Christian Study Centre holds a workshop on peace and interfaith harmony in Pakistan
The Christian Study Centre (CSC), an ecumenical institute, conducted a four-day training workshop on peace and interfaith harmony with a group of Christian and Muslim youth leaders from Jaranwala, Pakistan.
The group included university and college students, as well as representatives of various religious organizations.
The training aimed to improve the youth's knowledge base on topics such as social cohesion, the concept of peace and interfaith harmony in Christianity and Islam, and the role of youth in promoting peace and religious freedom.
It also contributed to imparting and enhancing peacebuilding and conflict resolution skills.
The speakers who covered the topics mentioned above in their talks included Samuel Sammy Robert Azariah, a Protestant bishop in the Church of Pakistan; Fr. Bonnie Mendes; Dr. Aslam Khaki; Mr. Rizwan Ali Khan; and Mr. Basir Nayyer.
CSC also organized an orientation visit to the Council of Islamic Ideology, the Islamic Research Institute, the National Commission on Human Rights, and the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan as part of the training workshop. During these visits, the briefings helped inform the youth from Jaranwala about the workings and effectiveness of these institutions.
In 1967, the ecumenical tradition firmly rooted the Christian Study Center from its very inception.
The founder envisioned the center as autonomous, dedicated to studying and researching Christianity and Islam.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
