CCBI National Meet: Strengthening digital Evangelization and media coordination in India

The Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) hosted a two-day National Meeting focused on integrating digital evangelization into the lives and ministries of priests. The event, organized by the CCBI Media Apostolate, took place on August 12–13 at Shanthi Sadan in Benaulim, Goa.

The meeting began with a warm welcome to the Communication Directors from various states. Rev. Father David Arokiam, Regional Secretary of the Tamil Nadu Bishops Council and CEO of Madha TV, led a session on the Synodal Method, offering an in-depth exploration of the mission within the digital environment.

Rev. Dr. Cyril Victor Joseph introduced the "Catholic Connect" app, emphasizing its role in uniting the Catholic Church within the digital space.

He also discussed the CCBI Pastoral Plan, providing updates on the progress made and outlining the journey ahead, with a particular focus on media initiatives and compliance requirements from regional and diocesan levels.

His Excellency Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrão, Archbishop of Goa and Daman, celebrated the Mass during the event.

Fr. Nigel Barrett, Regional Secretary for the Western Region, presented the Preparatory Document for the 36th Plenary Assembly of the CCBI, setting the stage for future deliberations.

The meeting concluded with Rev. Father Sudeep Paul, Regional Secretary for Karnataka, reporting on the World Communications Day (WCD) celebrations and compiling the information for submission to the Vatican.

The two-day event underscored the importance of strengthening the Church's digital mission and media coordination efforts across India, marking a significant step forward in the CCBI's ongoing commitment to effective and modern evangelization.- Inputs by Pujitha Nagalli
