In line with the call of Pope Francis to “Expand the Life in the Spirit Seminars in all
places and for everyone,” CHARIS Philippines has organized a national convention
open for members of charismatic organizations all over the country.
CHARIS Philippines believes that it is essential for the public to understand the presence and movement of the Holy Spirit in each individual's life to strengthen the unity with Jesus' mission in the community.
The Philippines is often described as “Un pueblo amante de Maria” (a people in love with Mary) and this is nowhere more apparent than last September 8, 2024, when different programs were held to celebrate the birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Cebu Archdiocese.
More than 50 organizations from Negros and Cebu in central Philippines on Wednesday jointly released a statement rejecting the expansion of Aboitiz Therma Visayas Inc.’s (TVI) coal-fired power plant in Toledo, Cebu, saying that the project will ‘contribute to the destruction’ of Tañon Strait, the country’S largest marine protected area (MPA).
In response to growing concerns surrounding governance and service in charismatic communities, Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma, the episcopal adviser of CHARIS Philippines, has called for forming a society of diocesan and charismatic spiritual directors.
The Archdiocese of Cebu will host the 5th Asian Apostolic Congress on Mercy from October 14 to 19 at the IC3 Pavilion in Cebu City, in collaboration with the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).
“There was some resistance and rejection of the Divine Mercy devotion in the context of other devotions already existing in diocesan organizations,” Mons. Kintanar
“We are ordained for mission, not for position. Our lives are extensions of this mission of Christ - every facet of our life and ministry should mirror this and nothing more,” said Bishop Billones.
“Young people, this is your gift, be influencers. I get amazed at how, how fast, and talented they are and the various ways they can reach out to each other”, Archbishop Palma said.
Fr. Antogop said that as a dedicated lay leader, he expects Mrs. Barino to render the same committed service and to become the voice of the charismatic renewal in Asia.
“We are responsible for reporting and monitoring what is happening in Asia insofar as the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in the Church is concerned,” Fe Mantuhac Barin said.
Even as he acknowledged the NMP’s desire to exhibit the panels to the general public, Palma said the illegal removal of the panels “constitutes a sacrilege.”
Fr. Soquiño’s challenge to devotees of the Santo Nino was a reaction to the message of Pope Francis on World Day of Peace on the theme, “Artificial Intelligence and Peace”.
Archbishop Palma said he hopes that the momentum of the work be sustained, for the “ecclesiastical watershed” to “continue overflowing as pathways to the hearts of all the faithful.”
The Cebu Archdiocesan Commission on Youth reminded the youth who will participate in the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections to follow the rules on youth council members running for government positions.
