On September 25, Church remembers its Filipino seafarers who, on account of their particular employment at sea, are often deprived of the grace and comfort of the Eucharistic celebrations.

On June 15, the world marks the 10th anniversary of the Day of the Seafarer even as many seafarers serve on the frontline of the COVID-19 pandemic, playing an essential role in maintaining the flow of vital goods, such as food, medicines and medical supplies.

Pope Francis thanked maritime personnel and fishermen for their contribution to feeding humanity amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
