Reflection Date: December 31, 2022
“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us, and we saw his glory, the glory as of the Father’s only-begotten Son, full of grace and truth."
On the Solemnity of All Saints, Pope Francis said that the lives of the saints inspire us to live radically “countercultural” and “revolutionary" lives as peacemakers.
During Mass for the Sunday of the Word of God – the Third Sunday in Ordinary Time – Pope Francis conferred the new ministry of Catechist on five men and three women from various parts of the world.
Reflect, today, on your own soul as fertile ground. What “seed” is sown there? What do you allow to penetrate your heart and take root? Are you vigilant, remaining attentive to the ways that the evil one tries to mislead you through subtle lies and errors?
Reflect, today, upon this summary of the entire Gospel. Read it over and over and memorize it. Savor every word and know that in embracing this short passage of Scripture, you are embracing the entire truth of God.
Reflect, today, upon your duty to share the Gospel with others. Sometimes this is done by an explicit sharing of the message of Jesus Christ, and at other times the message is shared more by our actions and virtue.
Reflect, today, on both your complete receptivity of the Gospel as well as your complete willingness to give. May your understanding and reception of this glorious gift of God transform you into a gift for others.
