The Word
December 31, Saturday, The Seventh Day in the Octave of Christmas
Daily Readings: 1 Jn 2:18-21 ; Gospel: Jn 1:1-18
The beginning of the gospel of John of the prologue of his writing represents a beautiful retelling of the story of creation and the very nature of God. Of course human words would not suffice to fully understand and describe God in his entirety, but nevertheless John Has made a successful attempt at describing God and the very reason why all had to unfold the way it did.
Christmas points to the centrality of the Word of God taking flesh. And this mystery of the incarnation being intricately weaved along the story of the ever present relationship between God and humanity.
“The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us, and we saw his glory, the glory as of the Father’s only-begotten Son, full of grace and truth."
We are called to witness thus to the gracious act of God in human history. That changed the face of the created cosmos through the direct intervention of God, enacting his grace filled mercy and compassion. God’s sweet embrace open us not to the very extent of the person of God but to his heart. He knew that the only way for us to know him and understand him is by speaking the language of the heart. Thus, the incarnation of God through Jesus, introduces us to the heat of God, his nature, his immeasurable love.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
