King Joash forsook the temple of the LORD, the God of their fathers, and began to serve sacred poles and idols. Because of this crime, wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem. Although prophets were sent to convert them to the LORD, the people ignored their warnings.
As a result, they lost against the Arameans because Judah had abandoned the LORD, the God of their fathers. Consequently, punishment was meted out to Joash.
In today's Gospel, Jesus reminded his disciples that they cannot serve two masters at the same time. They will either hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other.
Jesus taught that if one seeks first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, all things will be provided by God.
He further explained not to worry about life, what to eat or drink, or about the body and what to wear, for God will take care of these needs.
People describe God as a provider. He knows what people need and sends others to fulfill those needs.
Call to Action for Catholic Living: But God never abandons His people. He sent a collaborator who pledged to support all the food needs of the beneficiaries. Truly, God is a provider and knows the needs of His people.
Lord, may we always rely on your fatherly goodness. Amen!
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
