A triumphant heart

December 21, Wednesday, 4th Week of Advent
Daily Readings: Zephaniah 3:14-18A; Gospel – Luke 1:39-45

The first reading describes the people's jubilant joy as God removes all their fears from their hearts. Similarly, the gospel for today speaks about the joy that comes with Mary's visitation of her cousin Elizabeth, which was even felt by the unborn child in both pregnant women's wombs.

A surprise visit usually brings joy, especially to the person you are visiting. Recently, we went home to give a surprise visit for my mother’s birthday. My mother's happiness cannot be replaced by any gifts that she received. Visiting someone means expressing your appreciation for them. showing that love brings gladness that cannot be measured.

Mary’s visit to Elizabeth was pleasantly accepted and recognized by the unborn child, as was the latter's recognition and acceptance that Mary is the mother of God. It is an honor on her part to be visited by the Mother of God, and it brought a lot of happiness. It can be seen that both women believed that God's message had been fulfilled. By recognizing Mary as the Mother of God and acknowledging that she is blessed among the rest,  God has chosen her to give birth to the Son of God. Both are in an unfathomable state of happiness as a result of God's favor. Elizabeth being pregnant despite old age and Mary being a virgin, is pregnant through the power of the  Holy Spirit. Above all, they believe in what God has spoken to them. Believing in God's message demonstrates respect for God.
 
Lord, teach our hearts to believe in whatever plans you have for us, and give us the heartfelt joy of accepting your will.
