Stay Close to the Lord
December 2, Saturday of the Thirty-fourth Week in Ordinary Time
Daily Readings: First reading: Daniel 7:15–27; Gospel: Luke 21:34–36
Both the readings of today give us warning shots about the last day, reminding us of the end times and the arrival of apocalyptic events.
Some felt the end-time shivers with the arrival of the coronavirus. Some had their own personal end times fighting with COVID-19. Thank God, we are still alive and kicking.
It would be great to pay attention to the present times in which we live. If we do that well, we will be taken care of when we reach the end, which is not in our hands. We know we are capable of doing the worst of things to humankind even in the present, as they are happening in Russia and Ukraine.
We do not learn that we cannot destroy others without some form of self-destruction. The greater the harm to others, the more damage we inflict on ourselves. Awareness of our own personal end times would lead us to pay proper attention to the way we live our lives now.
The call today is to stay awake, cultivate a warm friendship with the Lord, and never allow it to cool off and die.
For those who are really close to the Lord, the end times will be a time for a welcome divine embrace.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
