Spreading the word of God
April 25, Feast of Saint Mark the Evangelist
Daily Readings: 1 Pt 5:5b-14; Mark 16:15-20
In the first reading, God invites us to be humble for God resists the proud, but to the humble he gives grace. He also encourages us to resist the devil and resist him with strong faith, knowing that the same affliction befalls our brethren who are in the world.
The Gospel of today commissioned the eleven apostles to go out to the whole world to preach the gospel of God. He underscores that salvation awaits those who believe and receive baptism, while condemnation awaits those who do not believe.
Today, we celebrate the feast of St. Mark the Evangelist. Although he was not one of the direct disciples of Jesus, Saint Mark is one of the authors of the Gospel accounts and played a vital role in spreading the Good News as a missionary in the early church. Through his writings, he proclaimed God's word to the entire world. We are all disciples of God and we also have a mission to spread the Gospel in some way.
Call to Action for Catholic Living: How can we share the message of Jesus Christ? As followers of Christ, it is our duty to embody the principles he imparted to us and embody his image and likeness. In doing so, we become living examples of his goodness and bring Christ to others.
Lord, help to spread the Word of God through our actions and deeds. Amen.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
