The power of prayer is incredibly effective. Hezekiah, king of Judah, prayed fervently to God for salvation from the hands of Sennacherib, king of Assyria.

His prayer was, "O LORD, our God, save us from the power of this man, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you alone, O LORD, are God."

The Lord listened to His servant Hezekiah, shielding and saving the city for His own sake and for the sake of His servant David.

Today's Gospel speaks about the Golden Rule in the Bible: "Do to others whatever you would have them do to you." Jesus told His disciples to enter through the narrow gate, for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and those who enter through it are many.

The Golden Rule, proclaimed by Jesus of Nazareth during His Sermon on the Mount, is described by Him as the second great commandment. The common English phrasing is, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

Call to Action for Catholic Living: Treat all as you want to be treated, and more than that, treat all as God has treated you. This Golden Rule illustrates kindness and goodness to others. If you want people to treat you with kindness, then be kind to others. Whatever you do to others, it comes back to you.

Lord Jesus, guide us to be kind to others. Amen.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
