Obeying God’s law
June 27, Thursday of the Twelfth Week in Ordinary Time
Daily Readings: 2 Kgs 24:8-17; Mt 7:21-29
Jehoiachin, king of Judah, along with his mother, ministers, officers, and officials, surrendered to King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, who took control of Jerusalem.
King Nebuchadnezzar deported all of Jerusalem’s officers and army men, totaling ten thousand, as well as all the craftsmen and smiths. None were left among the people except the poor.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus reminds His disciples that not everyone who says to Him, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but only those who do the will of His Father in Heaven.
He tells them, “Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.”
Everyone dreams of entering the Kingdom of God. But how do we enter the Kingdom of God? The key is belief in the Lord Jesus Christ.
All who truly believe in God, listen to His will, and practice His word in deeds have a great possibility of entering the Kingdom of God.
Call to Action for Catholic Living: Prepare to enter the Kingdom of God by being obedient to God’s law, having sincere faith in God, and living humbly.
Lord, help us to obey Your law and live according to Your will. Amen.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
