Message of Good News
July 13, Thursday of the fourteenth week in Ordinary Time
Daily Readings: 1st Reading, Genesis: 44:18–21; 23b:29; 45:1–5; Gospel: Matthew 10:7–15
Is there a time in your life when you only have a single peso (Philippine currency) in your pocket and then all of a sudden somebody comes and gives you what you need?
God has a way of being there in the nick of time, and in that instance, we can truly say, “God is good!” In the first reading, Judah narrates the difficult situation that he was in between his love for his father and the survival of his tribe. With compassion, Joseph revealed himself to his brothers and shared with them the good news that God had prepared him for his people.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus commissions his followers to proclaim the reign of God through words and deeds, bringing the good news, especially to the poor. This reminds me of the many missionaries who experienced the generosity of God and left everything to share the good news with the marginalized, reaching them here and there. They glorify God through their lives as a result of God's calling.
Can we also do the same and continue Jesus’ mission and be messengers of God’s good news to others?
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
