God's compassion toward sinners
July 1, Friday, 13th Week in Ordinary Time
Daily Readings: Amos 8: 4-6, 9-12 Gospel: Mathew 9:9-13
Jesus came to save the worthless, not the deserving.
Jesus' words that no one is genuinely righteous must be understood. According to the gospel, Jesus came not for the "righteous" but for "sinners." In other words, everyone needs the Savior since we are all sinners.
He was addressing the self-righteousness the Pharisees, who believed in addressing the self-righteousness of the Pharisees, who appeared to think that Jesus should only be associated with sinless people.
These comments may sound like they are blaming the Pharisees and others for being self-righteous, but they are an invitation from Jesus to everyone who admits their sin.
When we humble ourselves before God's perfection and consider our transgressions in the light of His glory, we are tempted to despair and feel ashamed of our actions.
How willing and ready are you to confess your sins to Jesus? Do not be afraid to put your trust in His unfailing love for you and completely surrender to His divine mercy.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
