Following Jesus, Living His Life!
December 9, Saturday of the First Week of Advent
Readings: Isaiah 30:19–21, 23–26; Matthew 9:35–10:1, 5, 6–8
In today’s Gospel, there are significant lessons from Jesus’ words and ministry.
Jesus' goodness to everyone is the essence of his mission. The multitude that followed Jesus experienced his goodness.
‘Harvest is abundant, but the laborers are few.’ Jesus means a laborer who may emulate his compassion, mercy, kindness, and charity. Rereading today's Gospel reveals Jesus' intuitive ability to know and meet people's needs. Laborers must have Jesus' heart. Those workers are ‘really’ few. Laborers who imitate Jesus better can better understand pastoral needs.
Jesus sends the disciples to find the lost sheep. If we can take it to be the mission statement of Jesus, what a way to decorate our ‘Christian Resume’! The least of the world is the topmost priority for Christians! Jesus said it and did it! Now, he gives us the invitation to follow him in doing the same.
The Kingdom of God is at hand. Jesus's unique goal was to right everything from the kingdom's standpoint. The ‘Kingdom of God’ is Jesus' moral standard. If we act according to the Kingdom principle, God inspires us and draws our attention to Him. Let us change our lives to follow the Kingdom.
To follow Jesus means to live his life! Let us pray for grace!
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
