Embracing Childlike Faith: A Path to the Kingdom of Heaven
August 17, Saturday of the Nineteenth Week in Ordinary Time
Daily Readings: Ezekiel 18:1-10, 13b, 30-32; Matthew 19:13-15
Jesus welcomes and blesses children, declaring, "Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for such is the kingdom of God" (Matthew 19:14). To enter the kingdom, one must have a childlike faith—pure, innocent, and unwavering.
Children naturally embody faith without doubt. They live in innocence and wonder, free from prejudice and ego, and full of patience and a willingness to learn. They symbolize love and forgiveness, making them precious to Jesus.
We must set aside pride and ego and approach God with vulnerability and openness. Children accept faith as a fundamental aspect of their reality, trusting their parents without question. Similarly, we are called to trust in God unconditionally.
Call to Action for Catholic Living: Entering the kingdom of heaven is not about our achievements or charity but about receiving God’s love and guidance. Do we approach God with childlike trust and humility?
Let us cultivate simplicity and purity to deepen our communion with God. Amen.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
