The Day of the Son of Man
November 12, Friday, 32nd Week in Ordinary Time
Daily Readings: Wisdom 13:1-9 & Luke 17:26-37
Many of us have seen films about catastrophic disasters. The well-publicised pictures of the tsunami that hit Japan after an earthquake on March 11, 2011, show us that the unexpected may come with utter suddenness.
The coming of the Lord will be as sudden as that. We must be so prepared for His coming that it would not matter what we are doing when He comes. We should be striving to do God's will each moment so that we can say, "I will not be embarrassed should the Lord come when I am doing what I am doing."
The preparedness rule is this: "Be willing to lose your life for the sake of the Lord." If the Lord Jesus comes today, we should be ready for Him.
We need, therefore, to be alert and ready and not be caught napping. Lack of alertness on the part of those who were destroyed in Noah's time made them miss the boat.
Closeness symbolised by the intimacy of two sharing the same bed or two women grinding meal together is no guarantee of being saved. One will be taken away and the other left.
Each will be judged individually. While we journey in life, we must never lose sight of the Lord.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
