Daily Readings: Nahum 2: 1, 3; 3: 1-3, 6-7; Matthew 16:24-28

“If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.”

This powerful reminder from Jesus highlights the cost of discipleship, calling us to surrender our desires and ambitions to follow Him.

To "deny oneself" means letting go of personal interests to embrace Jesus' will. The cross represents sacrifice and suffering, essential aspects of following Him. What good is it to gain the whole world but lose our souls?

This question transformed Francis Xavier, who sacrificed his ambitions to spread the Gospel in South Asia.

Call to Action for Catholic Living: Are we willing to prioritize our souls over material gain? Following Jesus requires sacrifice, surrender, and obedience, but it promises a life of purpose, fulfillment, and joy.

Let us walk joyfully in the footsteps of Jesus. Amen.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
