Called to be Ever Vigilant

Thursday, 21st Week in Ordinary Time
Daily Readings: 1 Thessalonians 3:7-13 & Matthew 24: 42 – 51

August 26, 2021

As humans, we tend to reason out, think, reflect and thereby carry out our actions to solve our problems and challenges of life. When there is an impending disaster, we will prepare to face it by planning to be protected and safe from all the harm. We also prepare for all the celebrations of important events in our lives – or families, seeing that everything planned should fall into place and those involved will be joyful.

In today's gospel passage, Jesus speaks to all the people about how they ought to behave in the present if they expect to be judged with mercy and compassion in the future. Jesus seems to invite us to be ever vigilant in our life. Our preparation will reflect our attitude towards life, people, and God. Nonetheless, if we look forward to being judged by God positively, then we would leave no stone unturned in making that activity happen in our lives.

Jesus, in His acquaintance with the people, talks of being awake, in communion with God, doing good and not evil - as a sure way of enjoying God's blessings. Let us remove all the obstacles to enjoy the goodness of God in our lives.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
