A Call to Faith and Reflection
June 26, Wednesday of the Twelfth Week in Ordinary Time
Daily Readings: 2 Kgs 22:8-13; 23:1-3; Mt 7:15-20
The Book of the Law was found in the temple of the Lord and given to the King. Upon hearing its contents, the King tore his garments, realizing that the forefathers had disobeyed the law.
In response, the King summoned the elders of Judah and Jerusalem before him. He went up to the temple of the Lord with all the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem: priests, prophets, and all the people, both small and great.
In today's Gospel, Jesus warns His disciples to beware of false prophets who come in sheep’s clothing but are ravenous wolves underneath.
He further explains that a good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a rotten tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.
Every person aspires to be good, but sometimes, due to the influence and pressure from those around them, they may be tempted to do bad things.
This story reminds us that every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. We are encouraged to examine ourselves regularly to ensure we are aligned with good virtues in life.
Call to Action for Catholic Living: We are also challenged to be open to feedback, as it can help us grow if we accept it with humility.
Lord, help us to grow and bear fruits of goodness. Amen.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
