Bless others as many as possible
December 21, Thursday of the Fourth Week of Advent
Daily Readings: Zephaniah 3:14-18a, 24-25a; Luke 1:39-45
As we draw closer to celebrate the Anniversary of Jesus’ birth, prophet Zephaniah in the First Reading of today, through his last oracle announces twice that the Lord is in the midst of His people. The day of His arrival is a day of festival that calls for singing and shouting for joy. It is a day of festivities because God will renew us in His love. He has taken away all the judgements against Israel and defeated all their enemies. There is no need to fear. That is exactly the mood of the Psalmist in the Responsorial Psalm today. He invites us to exult in the Lord and to sing to Him a new song.
There is more joy and reason to exult in the event of Visitation where Mary and her cousin Elizabeth meet. Mary expresses her attitude of service, care and concern to Elizabeth by going with haste to the hill country of Judea and accompanying her cousin for three months at the crucial time of her life.
Since Mary was pregnant with Jesus, her greetings brought down the Holy Spirit and enabled John the Baptizer in the womb of his mother Elizabeth to leap for joy and Elizabeth herself recognized that Mary is blessed among women and the fruit of her womb Jesus is also blessed. Today we are called to bless as many people as possible and count our blessedness!
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
