Our boss often asked me to wear the uniform, be attractive, smile, and be hospitable because I worked in tourism. We rental brokers must listen to our customers and endure their various perspectives.
As we celebrate today the memorial of Sts. Martha, Mary, and Lazarus, let us reflect on the Gospel about Martha and Mary and how they accepted Jesus Christ in their house. What are the different roles that Martha and Mary play in this story?
Who would you identify yourselves with in today’s gospel? Are you more like Martha or Mary?
My narrative reveals that I have simultaneously been Martha and Mary. As a front-line employee, I accommodate consumers like Mary. Similar to Martha, the reservations agent is preparing and reserving available vehicles for the upcoming days. They played different roles, but we have to remember that both were important in serving our Lord, Jesus Christ.
The story shows us that Jesus loved both of them and gave importance to each of their responsibilities. The Gospel also invites us to become humble in looking at each other’s roles in giving service to our Lord. We are all equal, loved, and appreciated, whatever our vocation—priest, religious, or lay—we can offer to the Lord.
