April 17, Easter Sunday of the Lord’s Resurrection
Sunday Readings: Acts 10: 34a.37-43, Colossians 3: 1–4 and John 20:1 – 9
I have been delighted and joyful since Jesus Christ rose from the dead. As His followers, we are assured that we, too, shall one day have the same experience, in which our Lord will resurrect us from the grave.
Christ's resurrection fills us with gladness. He has annihilated death and resurrected life. This signifies that we are no longer under Satan's dominion. Death, brought about by Adam and Eve's fall, has been restored by Christ's resurrection. Christ is the one who reconciles us to the Father, the source of life.
However, this does not imply Satan has abandoned us and will cease to torment us. Certainly not. Satan will continue to make an effort to seduce us. However, since we are already members of Christ, and if we are constantly and forever joined with Jesus in our lives, Satan will be unable to influence us. Therefore, continuously align yourself with Jesus, who overcame Satan. We will always triumph with Christ.
As Christians, we are all genuinely joyful people. There are many reasons we belong to the joyful group: God, our Creator, always lives within us. The Holy Spirit is always with us. Our leader is Jesus, who has overcome death. Jesus has told us: Do not be afraid! He will always be with us until the end of time. He has prepared a room for us and is always waiting for us!
In his letter to the Philippians, Saint Paul said: "Rejoice always in the Lord! Once again, I say rejoice. Do not be anxious about anything, but express all your desires to God in prayer and supplication with thanksgiving." (Phil 4:4-6). Rejoice!
Joy is the fruit of the Holy Spirit; joy is medicine for our soul and mind. It keeps our minds focused and our hearts comfortable. On the opposite side, complaining and worrying make our lives heavier. Enjoy the rhythm of the problem at hand.
Rejoice always, for our Lord Jesus Christ has risen from the dead. He has conquered death!
We pray that the grace of Christ's Resurrection renews our spirit so that we can always be witnesses of Christ, bringers of joy to our neighbors!
