Nun to return to Canada after serving 25 years in Hong Kong
A Canadian nun who has worked over three decades of missionary life in Hong Kong is to return to her home country.
Sister Margaret Choo-foo of the Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of the Angels (MNDA) worked at the Fatima Parish, Cheung Chau for the last 25 years.
On June 9, the parish held an informal farewell party and thanksgiving Mass for the elderly nun.
“Our gratitude and appreciation for the long-serving missionary Sister Margaret Choo-foo of the Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of the Angels,” said the parish on its Facebook page.
She has been involved in visiting families and caring for the elderly and the non-Chinese speaking community in the parish for the past 25 years.
She will soon retire in Quebec, Canada, where her congregation was founded a century ago (in 1922).
Our Lady of Fatima community in Cheung Cahu prays for her good health and wishes her the best in the days to come.
The members of the Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of the Angels arrived in Hong Kong in 1926. It is a worldwide missionary congregation that does several apostolates according to the needs of various places.
At present, 12 nuns work in Hong Kong in a school and parish ministries, among others.
