Manila Archdiocese builds Center for Spiritual Liberation, Exorcism – first in Asia
After seven years of praying and deliberations, the Archdiocese of Manila Office of Exorcism had its groundbreaking ceremony of the Saint Michael Center for Spiritual Liberation and Exorcism on May 17.
It is a product of more than seven years of prayers, planning and fundraising, this religious structure will be the first of its kind in Asia, if not the world.
The new center will come up at Bernardino Street corner EDSA, Guadalupe Viejo, Makati, Manila.
The Saint Michael Center will house the Archdiocese of Manila Commission on Extraordinary Phenomena, the Ministry of Exorcism Office, the Ministry on Visions and Phenomena Office, and will serve as the headquarters of the Philippine Association of Catholic Exorcists (PACE).
PACE is directly under the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) and affiliated with the International Association of Exorcists (IAE) based in Italy. The Chapel will be dedicated to Our Lady of the Angels.
The groundbreaking ceremony was presided by Cardinal Jose F. Advincula Jr. Archbishop of Manila joined by Father Francisco Syquia, Director of the Archdiocese of Manila Office of Exorcism.
After the lowering of the capsule, Cardinal Advincula and Father Syquia proceeded to cover the ground. They were followed by Architect Ronald Guzman and the other engineers who have been working on this project gratis since the beginning.
“This Center,” said Father Syquia, “will minister to those in bondage to the devil who is, therefore, the poorest of the poor and is usually overlooked.”
The by-invitation-only event was graced by special guests--Msgr. Clemente Ignacio, the Vicar General of the Archdiocese, Father Rico Garcia, Rector of Our Lady of Guadalupe Minor Seminary, the exorcists and lay team members of the Archdiocese of Manila Office of Exorcism and the Philippine Association of Catholic Exorcists.
The Archdiocese of Manila Office of Exorcism is grateful to all the benefactors who have until this point supported the Saint Michael Center.
“We hope for your continued prayers, sacrifices, skills and monetary donations. Our work of constructing the center is just beginning,” a message posted on the Archdiocese of Manila Office of Exorcism’s Facebook page said.
“May the Lord give back a hundredfold to you and your loved one for your charity and generosity. May the Lord who has inspired us to begin this work bring it to completion for His good pleasure and glory and the salvation of souls afflicted by suffering, evil and sin,” it added. “May Mama Mary, Saint Joseph, Saint Michael, the communion of Saints and the entire angelic hosts continue to intercede, protect and journey with us in this endeavor of mercy and love.”
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
