Indian Jesuit Priest wins Konkani Catholic Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award
The Federation of Konkani Catholic Association (FKCA) has chosen Jesuit Human Rights and Peace activist Father Cedric Prakash for the Lifetime Achievement Award for 2022.
FKCA is an umbrella organization founded in 1998 and represents 33 Konkani Catholic Associations in Karnataka state of south India and worldwide.
The awards conferred every year since 1998, honor Konkani Catholics for their achievement and services in various fields.
FKCA chairperson Silvian Noronha said the Award will be conferred on Father Cedric at the 24th Annual Federation Day of FKCA in Bangalore on June 5.
Presentation Sister Dorothy Fernandes, convenor of the Forum for Justice and Peace, of which Cedric is a member, told RVA News: "Father Cedric deserves the award as he is a powerful voice for the religious minorities and those unjustly treated."
Thanking FKCA, Father Cedric said, “Each one of us should look beyond our small confines of religion or caste and speak up for the voiceless and the persecuted.”
In 2020, he was conferred the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award 2019’ by the Delhi Government’s Minorities Commission.
FKCA plans to honor two others-Justice John Michael Cunha, former Judge, High Court of Karnataka by conferring on him the Professional Excellence Award; and M/S Brilliant Printers Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore for the Best Entrepreneur Award. - Frank Krishner
