Indian Christian leaders meet to discuss issues with government officials
Christian leaders met government officials to discuss issues and look forward to plausible solutions in the Indian state of Telangana on January 25.
Heads of Telangana Christian Community discuss religious issues with the Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao (KTR), the minister of Information Technology of Telangana, Koppula Eshwar, Minister of All Welfare Departments and A. K. Khan, advisor to the Government of Telangana for Minorities Affairs at the Secretariat in Hyderabad, Telangana.
The main Christian issue that came up was attacks on churches and missionaries. The local cases were permission for new church construction, a place for a cemetery, scholarships for Christian minorities in education, and bank loans for educational institutions.
The authorities assured the safety of Christians in the state and promised to look for land for the Christian community for the new church and cemetery.
Christian leaders expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister of Telangana state, Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), for his continual support towards the community.
Prominent Catholic church and Christian denominations leaders were among over 100 people who attended the meeting.
Among the leaders were Roydin Roach, Christian Minority Leader Telangana state, Father Arlagadda Joseph, Deputy Secretary of Telugu Catholic Bishop’s Council and Father K. Anthaiah, secretory for the commission for ecumenism.
