The Diocese of Rajshahi in Bangladesh has been providing financial support to families most affected by the pandemic since a “lockdown” was declared in the country since July 1.

The diocese was able to provide financial support amounting to about US$35,515 to 2,400 households through the help of religious sisters and school teachers.

"The Catholic Church has always supported the poor,” said Bishop Gervas Rozario. “We think it is our moral duty to support the poor or give them financial support.”

The bishop appealed to the people to also “come forward” and help even as he encourage everyone to always observe the strict health protocols.

"I pray that God keeps each of us free and safe from the coronavirus,” said Bishop Rozario.

“I especially pray for the people who are affected by the coronavirus pandemic. May the good Lord be with them, cure them, and bless all of them,” he added. - Nikhil Gomez / RVA News

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
