The Pontifical Mission Society (PMS) in the Diocese of Rajshahi in Bangladesh celebrated Holy Childhood Day for the children at Good Shepherd Cathedral Church on January 30.

The PMS encourages to show love and care for children with a special theme: The Children for a Synodal: Communion, Participation and Mission."

Around seventy-five children, eighteen animators, three priests and a religious brother and nun participated in the event.

"Jesus always loves the children because they are holy, simple, humble, and open-hearted. So we all are called to nourish them from the very beginning of their life so that they may be formed by the Christian morality and know the Catholic teaching," said Father Emmanuel K. Rozario, the vicar general of Rajshahi diocese.

Father Uttam Rozario and Father Suresh Purification, the two assistant priests, were present for the celebration.

The priest said that we are responsible for taking care and loving the children, as Pope Francis invites us to be a synodal church to listen to them and invite them to participate in the church's mission.

"If we give them right formation, one day they will lead their families, society, church and country towards progress," said Father Emmanuel.

The event began with a rally with children chanting slogans. Under the guidance of  Father Suresh Purification, Sister Lucy, SC, and the animators the children participated in art, prayer, and religious singing competition.
