Viet Nam: Pope names new auxiliary bishop of Diocese of Xuan Loc

Fr. Dominic Nguyễn Tuấn Anh as Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Xuan Loc, Vietnam.

Pope Francis has appointed Fr. Dominic Nguyễn Tuấn Anh as Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Xuan Loc, Vietnam.

The announcement came on August 24, 2024.

The bishop-elect was born on April 9, 1972, in Tam Hiệp, Biên Hòa, Đồng Nai, within Bùi Thái Parish, Tân Mai Deanery.

From 1990 to 1997, he was a seminarian at Xuân Lộc Diocese, and from 1997 to 2003, he studied at St. Joseph Seminary, Saigon. From 2003 to 2005, he assisted at Hiền Hòa Parish, Xuân Lộc Diocese.

On September 29, 2005, he was ordained as a deacon by Bishop Thomas Nguyễn Văn Trâm at the Cathedral of Xuân Lộc Diocese. On September 30, 2005, he was ordained as a priest by Bishop Dominic Nguyễn Chu Trinh at the Cathedral of Xuân Lộc Diocese.

From 2006 to 2013, he studied in France and graduated with a Master’s in Moral Theology from the Institut Catholique de Paris.

From 2013 to 2016, he was a professor of moral theology at St. Joseph Seminary, Xuân Lộc.

From 2016–2018, he pursued a Doctoral Program in Moral Theology at Loyola School of Theology, Ateneo, Philippines.

In 2019, he attended training courses for formators at the Emmaus Center, Ateneo de Manila University.

In 2020, he attended the Priestly Life Renewal Program at Galilee Center, Tagaytay, Philippines.

Since 2021, he has been a professor of moral theology at St. Joseph Seminary, Xuân Lộc.

Since March 3, 2021, he has been the Vicar General of Xuân Lộc Diocese.
