Pakistan: The Catholic Women's Organization marks World Tuberculosis Day

Mrs. Fazeelat Lal, Principal/Chief Nursing Superintendent, College of Nursing Sims/Services Hospital Lahore, facilitated the awareness session on World Tuberculosis Day at Youhanabad Feroze Pur Road, Lahore.

The Catholic Women's Organization organized an awareness program on tuberculosis to mark World Tuberculosis Day in Pakistan on March 25.

Mrs. Fazeelat Lal, Principal/Chief Nursing Superintendent, College of Nursing Sims/Services Hospital Lahore, at Youhanabad Feroze Pur Road, Lahore, facilitated the awareness session on World Tuberculosis Day.

Medical doctors and other experts on tuberculosis spoke on the occasion.

Various speakers urged everyone to remain vigilant about curbing tuberculosis in Pakistan.

“Better awareness and knowledge of tuberculosis by everyone will be the best measure to address the disease,” said Fazeelat Lal.

According to the World Health Organization, about 15,000 drug-resistant TB cases and 510,000 new cases of TB are projected to occur annually in Pakistan, 

Pakistan ranks fifth among B-high-burden countries globally and bears 61% of the TB burden in the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region.

The Catholic Bishops Conference of Pakistan established the Catholic Women's Organization as a non-profit organization.
