India's First Cathfluencers Meet Marks New Era in Digital Evangelization

In a landmark moment for Catholic digital evangelization, the Archdiocesan Commission for Social Communications of the Archdiocese of Madras-Mylapore hosted its first General Body Meeting titled "Faith and Future" at the JD Academy of Excellence in Santhome on March 30.
The event, held from 4 PM onwards, brought together 56 passionate Cathfluencers—Catholic digital missionaries using social media platforms like Instagram to spread the Gospel and share Catholic teachings.
The gathering opened with warm fellowship, light refreshments, and interactive games that fostered collaboration and camaraderie.
Most participants were from the Archdiocese of Madras-Mylapore, and the event laid the foundation for a strong, united Catholic digital media network.
A highlight of the evening was the presence of Bishop George Antonysamy, Archbishop of Madras-Mylapore, who addressed the attendees with heartfelt words of encouragement.
He commended the Cathfluencers for their commitment to spreading the Word of God in the digital space and urged them to continue their mission with renewed faith and zeal.
In a symbolic moment, Father Ritchie Vincent, Secretary of the Commission for Social Communications, presented a Mayilai Madha statue to the Archbishop as a token of love and respect. Members of the organizing team also offered gifts of appreciation.
A special recognition was awarded to Mr. Kevin Mario, the creator of the popular Instagram page The Catholic Trumpet, known for the "365 Days with Church Fathers" series.
The archbishop personally presented him with a token of appreciation, acknowledging his impactful contributions to online evangelization.
A group photo featuring all Cathfluencers with the Archbishop captured the spirit of unity and shared mission.
The evening continued with a keynote address by Mr. A.L. Sebastian, Director of JD Academy of Excellence, who emphasized the importance of Catholics taking up leadership roles in society, especially through securing government positions.
Following this, Mr. Regilan, Director of Operations for the Commission, conducted an engaging conference on digital ministry.
He facilitated an open dialogue where Cathfluencers shared their experiences, challenges, and ideas, with the Commission assuring continued support and new initiatives to strengthen their digital outreach.
In his concluding address, Father Ritchie Vincent delivered a powerful message on the responsibility and potential of Catholics in media ministry. His spiritually uplifting words were followed by a closing prayer and blessing, sending the Cathfluencers forth with renewed strength and a deeper sense of purpose.
The "Faith and Future" General Body Meeting was more than an event—it was a defining step toward a more connected and empowered Catholic digital mission.
With greater collaboration and clarity of vision, the Cathfluencers remain committed to proclaiming the Gospel boldly in today’s digital world.
