India: Pastors unite for day of prayer amidst violence in Kuki-Zo Christian district

In the wake of a tragic clash on March 19, 2025, in the Kuki-Zo Christian District — home to a majority of internally displaced persons (IDPs) seeking refuge — pastors from various denominations came together in a remarkable show of solidarity. 

The violence, which claimed one life and left several injured, underscored the urgent need for healing and reconciliation.

On March 20, 2025, amidst a government-imposed curfew and shutdown, over 56 pastors defied difficult circumstances, gathering to lead a day of prayer across key areas impacted by the unrest. 

Despite the sweltering heat and prevailing tensions, these spiritual leaders united to bring hope, peace, and healing to a community grappling with grief and division.

Organized across multiple affected locations, the day of prayer included scripture readings, hymns, and calls for forgiveness and understanding. 

The pastors' united front served as a spiritual intervention and a public appeal for harmony, encouraging all community members to rebuild trust and stand against further discord.

The initiative, held under the shadow of recent violence, was more than a symbolic act. 

It became a grassroots movement aimed at healing deep wounds and fostering a renewed sense of kinship among the people.
