India: International symposium held on World Teachers’ Day
The Centre for Advanced Studies in Culture, Happiness, and Ethics (CACHE) marked World Teachers’ Day with an international symposium at St. Andrew’s School Conference Hall, Bandra (West), India, on October 5, 2023.
The topic of the symposium was “Teachers Without Borders.”
There were a host of cooperators, including St. Andrew’s Educational Foundation in Mumbai and the Archdiocesan Board of Education (ABE) in Mumbai, western India.
The symposium began with the Chief Guest, Sister Joaquim Reis, an advocate, who invited other speakers to place electric candles on a stand in front of the dais while the students of St. Andrew’s High School sang “This Little Light of Mine”.
CACHE, a community center, is focused on illuminating and empowering individuals as they face complicated challenges and exceptional opportunities.
Sister Reis and Father Magi Murzello, founder of CACHE, inaugurated the symposium.
The line-up of speakers comprised a host of distinguished educators.
Prof. Dr. Michelle Philip (Wilson College, Mumbai), Maj. Gen. Om Gulia, SM, VSM (Retd.), Dr. Snehal Pinto (Ryan International Group of Institutions), Prof. Dr. Hanif Lakdawala (Akbar Peerbhoy College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai), Fr. Adolph Furtado SDB (Don Bosco, Nerul), Ms. Anna Bredemeyer (former Miss India and The Original Supermodel), Rev. Prof. Dr. Chandima Gangodawila (renowned Buddhist scholar), Prof. Dr. Nestor Castro (University of Manila, Philippines), and Dr. Phil I Ketut Ardhana (Udayana University, Bali, Indonesia) brought in their special brand of humor and personal experiences that kept the audience’s attention the entire morning.
Over 250 educators from more than 80 schools in Mumbai left with a Certificate of Participation, a memento, and wonderful memories of a morning well spent.
