India: Diocese of Kurnool Empowers Youth with First Career Guidance Initiative

Kurnool Diocese held its first-ever Career Guidance Program on April 5–6, 2025, at Jeevasudha Pastoral Center.

The Diocese of Kurnool organized its first-ever Diocesan Career Guidance Program from April 5–6, 2025, at the Jeevasudha Pastoral Center, Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, India.

Bishop Gorantla Johannes, OCD, of the Kurnool Diocese, inaugurated the two-day event with an address.

In his speech, he emphasized the importance of empowering youth to take charge of their future through informed career decisions.

The program featured insightful sessions from eminent speakers, including Bishop Gorantla Johannes, Mr. Rajasekhar (Kurnool Diocese), Father N. Bala SJ (Andhra Loyola College, Vijayawada), Fr. Justin (Don Bosco), and Mr. Sandeep.

Their talks focused on key topics such as personality development, verbal communication skills, and choosing the right academic path.

Over 500 high school students from grades 10–12 participated in the sessions, which followed a five-step career guidance model: self-awareness, career exploration, school and career paths, genuine encounters, and decision-making.

The program combined lectures, group discussions, and personal introductions to create a dynamic and engaging learning experience.

Father Koduru Rajendra Kumar, Diocesan Youth Director and Director of the Communication Centre, shared that the goal of the program was to equip young people with the tools and confidence needed to make thoughtful career choices.

“By the end of these two days of sessions, all participants can make better choices,” he said.

Father Koduru Rajendra Kumar, Father Praveen Egalapati, Father Manoj, and sisters from various congregations in the Kurnool Diocese successfully organized the program.
