India: Catechism Children’s Jubilee 2025: Igniting faith, fellowship
The Archdiocese of Madras-Mylapore hosted the much-anticipated Catechism Children’s Jubilee 2025 on January 26 at Santhome Higher Secondary School, Tamil Nadu, India.
The Commission for Catechesis organized it. The event brought together 3,459 children, 548 catechism teachers, clergy, and volunteers under the inspiring theme "I Am a Star of Hope."
The celebration began with a warm-up and sing-along session led by Bro. Sathiya, followed by a keynote address from Fr. Peter Thumma EV, Vice Chairperson of the CCJ.
Fr. Satish Paul SDB led an engaging media session as the program continued with the playing of India's national anthem.
A grand inaugural ceremony set the tone for the day, as Bishop George Antonysamy of Madras-Mylapore led a procession and symbolically passed the Jubilee Pilgrim Cross to the coordinator of the Tamil Nadu Biblical Catechetical and Liturgical Centre (TNBCLC).
This was followed by the Holy Eucharist, presided over by the archbishop, with liturgical animation by Fr. Wilson and a moving choir performance by Fr. Joshua.
A special moment of blessings was dedicated to exam students, crosses, rosaries, and Bibles before the archbishop engaged in an interactive Q&A session with children representing 12 vicariates.
The afternoon was filled with dynamic activities, including an extempore musical show, a talent expo, and a captivating gospel magic performance by Ms. Jennifer.
A solemn procession by students, grouped by grade, highlighted their devotion to the Cross, Rosary, and Bible.
The celebration deepened in spirit as the Youth United For Christ (YU4C) group led an engaging session of praise and worship, filling the venue with energy and devotion.
This was followed by an inspiring talk by Mrs. Pauline Rose, titled “Glory of God, Children Active and Alive.”
The day concluded with a heartfelt resolution from the catechism children, a prize distribution ceremony, and a vote of thanks by Father Raymond.
With the participation of 96 parishes and the dedication of 24 organizing committees, the Catechism Children’s Jubilee 2025 was a remarkable success, fostering both spiritual growth and a stronger sense of community and faith among the children.
