Cubao bishop calls for holiness and solidarity at Jubilee Year 2025 launch in the Philippines
Bishop Elias L. Ayuban, Jr., CMF, DD of the Diocese of Cubao has called on priests across the diocese to intensify the administration of the Sacrament of Confession throughout the Jubilee Year 2025.
During the opening ceremony on December 29, 2024, themed "Pilgrims of Hope," the bishop addressed the clergy, stating: "The Jubilee Year is a favorable time for us to accompany the faithful in their journey to God. I personally invite you to provide a regular schedule of confession, duly announced in every parish throughout the year."
He emphasized the importance of a collective journey, urging priests, consecrated persons, and laypeople to ensure no one—especially the poor and marginalized—is left behind.
"To travel in a caravan means nobody should be left behind. This Jubilee Year challenges us to strengthen our collaboration and solidarity with the poor and the marginalized."
Ayuban also highlighted the Jubilee Year’s call for the faithful to become "Saints for others," stressing that holiness is inseparable from service. "We can only be saints if we wash the feet of others. Holiness is not merely an individual call but a shared journey as a family of God and a community of God."
The event began with a rite at the Religious of the Virgin Mary Convent in N. Domingo, Quezon City, followed by a solemn procession to the Immaculate Conception Cathedral of Cubao.
Hundreds of faithful from across the diocese participated in the procession, underscoring the community spirit of the celebration.
The day concluded with a Holy Mass at the cathedral, presided over by Bishop Ayuban, together with the clergy, religious, and laity.
The bishop encouraged everyone to reflect on the Jubilee Year as an opportunity for spiritual renewal, greater unity, and deeper service to others.
As the Diocese of Cubao embarks on its Jubilee Year journey, Ayuban’s message serves as a clarion call for hope, holiness, and solidarity, reminding all to embrace their shared mission as "Pilgrims of Hope."
