CEAP NCR calls for continued commemoration of People Power Revolution in Philippines

CEAP NCR urges member schools to commemorate the People Power Revolution on February 25.

The Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines—National Capital Region (CEAP NCR) strongly encourages all member schools to continue commemorating February 25 as the anniversary of the People Power Revolution.

In its official post, it said February 25 is “a pivotal moment in Philippine history that showcased the nation's unwavering commitment to democracy and freedom.”

“To highlight the importance of this historical event and foster a deeper understanding of its lasting significance among the younger generation, CEAP NCR humbly recommends designating Feb. 25 as a non-academic, non-working day for all member institutions within the region,” it said.

“This designation affords students and educators

We have the opportunity to actively participate in commemorative events, reflect upon the values upheld during the People Power Revolution, and pay homage to the sacrifices of those who struggled for the nation's freedom.

“The People Power Revolution serves as a powerful reminder of the Filipino people's patriotism, courage, and unity in the face of adversity. By commemorating this historic event, CEAP NCR seeks to instill in students a deep appreciation for their national heritage and inspire them to become responsible and engaged citizens who uphold the principles of democracy, justice, and human rights.”

“CEAP NCR urges all member schools to organize meaningful activities that will educate students about the People Power Revolution, its causes, and its impact on Philippine society. These activities may include lectures, discussions, film screenings, exhibits, and community outreach programs.”

“Let us continue to honor the spirit of the People Power Revolution and its enduring legacy by nurturing a deep sense of patriotism and civic responsibility among the youth,” said CEAP NCR.

Meantime, the SVD-run Divine Word College of Calapan, in observance of the 39th Anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution, has also declared February 25, 2025, a school holiday on all its campuses in Oriental Mindoro.
