The Diocese of Rajshahi in Bangladesh recently held a Lenten seminar for nuns serving across the region at the Christo Jyoti Pastoral Centre from March 18 to 20.

Organized by the Diocesan Commission for Clergy and Religious, the seminar focused on the theme "Pursuing Reconciliation in Religious Life: Solidarity and Inclusion," with 37 nuns from different parishes attending the event.

Father Premu Rozario opened the seminar with a thought-provoking sermon during the Holy Eucharist celebration, emphasizing the importance of living selflessly in religious life.

He encouraged the participants to foster a culture of forgiveness and practice cooperation, sympathy, and mutual support.

He further highlighted that such virtues would make the collective life within the community more active and enriching.

Sister Helen, SC, during her presentation, reflected on the true essence of religious community life. "Living together in religious life, caring for one another, and sharing both joys and sorrows that define a community."

She also underscored key responsibilities within religious life, which include maintaining communication, supporting one another, safeguarding physical and mental health, and nurturing a spirit of cooperation and humor.

Additionally, Sister Helen spoke about the importance of being attentive to personal growth and spiritual maturity and being aware of the need for reconciliation in a synodal church.

The seminar also delved into building a united community by embracing mutual respect and understanding. Sister Helen emphasized the importance of being patient, courageous enough to admit mistakes, and consistently striving to create an atmosphere of dialogue and tolerance.

On the final day, Bishop Gervas Rozario celebrated the Holy Eucharist and shared his reflections on the theme of inclusion and solidarity.

"True union in religious life is union with God and one another. We must hold all together, exclude none, and foster solidarity and inclusion in our community life," he said.

"Seeing each other as sisters and considering each other as integral to our lives shows that we are truly pursuing reconciliation," he added.

The two-day seminar featured several engaging activities, including Adoration of the Holy Cross, life-sharing sessions, group discussions, and community orientation. Participants also had the opportunity to visit the Nobai Bottola Pilgrim Church and Andharkota Church, further strengthening their spiritual journey.

At the end of the seminar, Father Michael Corraya, the convener of the Commission for Clergy and Religious, thanked all the participants and expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the event.
