The Archdiocese of Chattogram in Bangladesh hosted its annual Pastoral Assembly, fostering faith and community renewal at the Immaculate Virgin Mary Parish in Jamalkhan on March 7.

The event was centered around the theme, “The Lord is my Shepherd” (Psalm 23:1), and was attended by a large number of the faithful from the parish.

This pastoral gathering brought together spiritual leaders, laity, and clergy for a day filled with reflection, dialogue, and a renewal of faith.

The day began with a registration and welcome session, creating an atmosphere of fellowship and anticipation. David Gonsalves led the opening session, which included a Bible installation ceremony and an inaugural prayer.

In his opening address, Gonsalves provided valuable insights into pastoral leadership and guidance, setting the tone for the discussions to follow.

The second session focused on the achievements and challenges faced in pastoral activities throughout the year, with an emphasis on the initiatives and accomplishments from 2024.

Manik Willver D. Costa delivered an insightful presentation of the bishop’s pastoral letter, diving deep into the year’s theme and its significance for the church’s mission.

The afternoon session saw participants engaging in group workshops designed to discuss effective pastoral strategies for the future.

Teams presented their reports, fostering collaborative thinking and ideas for strengthening pastoral work in the coming year. These discussions highlighted the importance of teamwork, innovation, and dedication in serving the faith community.

A key feature of the day was the series of theological reflections and panel discussions that addressed essential aspects of spiritual leadership. Topics explored included the role of pastoral values in nurturing faith communities, the importance of spiritual support for personal growth, and how to encourage servant leadership within the church.

Participants appreciated the spiritual enrichment of the day, recognizing its significance in reinforcing the bonds within the church community.

Many expressed gratitude for the opportunity to engage in open dialogue about faith, leadership, and service, viewing the conference as an essential tool for strengthening their spiritual commitment.

As the event came to a close, participants were encouraged to reflect on the discussions and consider how to integrate the teachings into their personal lives and pastoral missions.

With clear direction and renewed inspiration, the event laid out a meaningful roadmap for the Archdiocese's pastoral work in the year ahead, ensuring continued spiritual growth and development for both individuals and the broader community.
