More than 300 AICUF members, animators, and advisors from across India, attented the opening of its centenary celebrations May 24-27 at St. Joseph’s College, Tiruchirappalli, in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, the birthplace of AICUF.

The All-India Catholic University Federation (AICUF) opened its centenary celebrations May 24-27 at St. Joseph’s College, Tiruchirappalli, in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, the birthplace of AICUF.

More than 300 AICUF members, animators, and advisors from all over India attended it, marking a significant turning point in its history.

Enthusiastic participants included representatives from Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and West Bengal states.

The festivities provided various activities that helped AICUF members improve their leadership abilities, broaden their perspectives on other cultures, and reaffirm their dedication to social service and personal development.

Jesuit Father Stanislaus D'Souza, president of the Jesuit Conference of South Asia, released the official AICUF anthem on May 24 in honor of the organization's centennial celebrations.

“This stirring hymn, which celebrates our solidarity, faith, and dedication to social justice, perfectly encapsulates the spirit and goals of the AICUF,” said Father D'Souza.

“The upbeat hymn will serve as a source of inspiration and pride for all AICUF members as it brings us all together on our path of service and solidarity,” he added.

The schedule included several educational seminars covering spiritual, political, social, ecological, and economic problems.

For many years, AICUF has provided a forum for young people to face their fears, push for reform, and foster harmony among people from different backgrounds.

The centennial celebrations reaffirmed this goal and encouraged attendees to continue their personal development and volunteer work.

The AICUF is an organization of Catholic university students and was started in 1924 by Jesuit Father 0Carty. At present, it operates in 15 states in India.

The organization is affiliated with Pax-Romana, an international association of Catholic professionals.

The AICUF’s vision is “to sensitize students towards those at the margins and involve ourselves in the struggle for their basic rights by equipping ourselves physically, intellectually, and spiritually while networking with NGOs and people's movements.”

AICUF's vision is "We are born into an "unjust society," and we are determined not to leave it as we have found it."

“AICUF aims at making students sensitized about several social issues and injustices done to the marginalized sectors,” is AICUF’S mission statement.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
