Archbishop Mark Tin Win entrusts Mandalay archdiocese to Our Lady of the Rosary
Archbishop Mark Tin Win of the Archdiocese of Mandalay has “entrusted” the archdiocese to the Our Lady of the Rosary.
The prelate made the announcement in a letter to priests and the faithful last month.
The archdiocese has been a separate vicariate since 1870 under the guidance of priests and bishops of the Paris Foreign Mission Society.
Various Religious congregations of both men and women also assisted in the mission of the diocese, mostly in education and health care.
In 1954, Monsignor Joseph U Win became the first indigenous priest to be ordained a bishop.
On Jan. 1, 1955, the vicariate of Mandalay became an Archdiocese. Since that time, the archdiocese was entrusted to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
The prelate said that as a sign of “putting under the maternal care” of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the feast of the Our Lady of the Rosary will be celebrated on October 7.
“On this diocesan feast day, I would like to encourage you to pray earnestly for the good of diocese,” said the archbishop.

RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
