Pope Francis’ March Prayer: Healing Families Through Forgiveness

Pope Francis calls for prayers for families in crisis this March 2025.

Pope Francis has released his prayer intention for March 2025, inviting the Church to pray for “families in crisis.”

Acknowledging that no family is perfect, he emphasizes that forgiveness can help restore peace and strengthen family bonds.

The Pope's Worldwide Prayer Network shares the Pope's monthly prayer intention with the Catholic Church.

The visuals and audio for this month’s video were prepared before the Holy Father’s hospitalization at Rome's Gemelli Hospital on February 14, where he continues treatment for bilateral pneumonia.

In The Pope's Video for March, Pope Francis reflects on the struggles that families face, recognizing that while every family experiences both joys and difficulties, conflicts can create deep wounds.

"We all dream about a beautiful, perfect family," the Pope said, "but there’s no such thing as a perfect family."

He emphasized that differences among family members often lead to tension, yet these differences make each person unique and valuable.

To heal these wounds, the Pope highlights forgiveness as the “best medicine” for a wounded family.

He encourages family members to offer each other "another chance," just as God continuously forgives and lifts His people.

"God’s patience is infinite," the Holy Father reminded. "He forgives us, lifts us, and gives us a new start."

Pope Francis explains that forgiveness renews the family and fosters hope, as God's grace provides the strength to forgive even when relationships lack a perfect resolution, bringing peace and freedom from sadness and resentment.

The Pope concludes with a prayerful invitation:

"Let us pray that broken families might discover the cure for their wounds through forgiveness, rediscovering each other’s gifts, even in their differences."
