Pope Francis continues his recovery at Rome’s Agostino Gemelli Hospital, where medical tests indicate improvement in key health parameters, according to an official statement from the Holy See Press Office.
The 86-year-old pontiff was admitted on February 14 morning due to a respiratory infection and has since been receiving treatment, including a slight adjustment to his medical therapy.
The Vatican’s latest communiqué, released on February 15 confirmed that Pope Francis had a restful night without fever.
Laboratory tests conducted during the day have shown positive signs of recovery, prompting doctors to fine-tune his treatment based on new microbiological findings.
Despite his hospitalization, the pope has remained spiritually engaged. According to the statement, he received the Eucharist on February 15 morning and spent time alternating between prayer, reading, and moments of rest.
To ensure a smooth recovery, Pope Francis will not lead the Sunday Angelus prayer on February 16. Instead, he has prepared a written text that will be published in his absence.
This decision reflects the medical team’s emphasis on minimizing strain while allowing the pontiff to focus entirely on his health and recuperation.
The Vatican statement also noted that the pope has been informed of the many messages of support, prayers, and well-wishes received worldwide.
In response, the Holy Father has expressed his gratitude and has asked for continued prayers for his full recovery.
As the pope rests under close medical supervision, the faithful remain united in prayer, hoping for his swift return to public engagements and pastoral duties.
