During his General Audience, on January 8, Pope Francis dedicated his catechesis to the "scourge" of child labour, urging Christians to reject indifference toward the exploitation and suffering of children.

Reflecting on the Scriptures, the pope emphasized that children are a gift from God but are often denied their dignity and subjected to violence, exploitation, and marginalization.

He lamented that in a world advancing in artificial intelligence and space exploration, the plight of humiliated and wounded children remains unresolved.

Recalling the New Testament, Francis highlighted Jesus' compassion for children, who He presented as models for adults to emulate.

He condemned the global economy that prioritizes profit over the welfare of children and called on the faithful to protect the dreams and innocence of the young.

Concluding his reflection, the Holy Father prayed for a world where every child can grow in love, wisdom, and grace, free from exploitation and harm.
