The meeting on "Walking Together Towards a Peaceful Indonesia" discussed international and domestic peace, poverty, justice, corruption, nepotism, social injustice, discrimination, respecting and honoring women and children, and the role of young people in the church.

"Indonesian bishops' annual gathering takes place during three major events in 2024: the XVIth Ordinary Session of the Synod of Bishops in Rome will end in October; the elections of the president and vice president of Indonesia will take place on February 14; and IBC will celebrate its 100th anniversary on May 15, according to Bishop Antonius Subianto Bunjamin, OSC.

The meeting is "an opportunity" to "strengthen the existing cooperation," said Bishop Benjamin.

"After we practice listening, which requires us to wait, be patient, and not negatively force our point of view, we can finally enter the dynamics of dialogue and sharing, or more specifically, friendly communication," Father Lalu said, quoting Pope Francis.
