International Day of Women and Girls in Science: February 11
Women and girls worldwide face many hurdles in pursuing their careers in science, mathematics, and technology. It calls for making science more open, diverse, and efficient.
Pope Francis said “there cannot and must not be any opposition between faith and science” in a video message sent to a meeting sponsored by the University of Teramo in Italy on July 2.
“To rise to the challenges of the 21st century, we need to harness our full potential. That requires dismantling gender stereotypes. On this International Day of Women and Girls in Science, let’s pledge to end the gender imbalance in science.”
