On September 26, during his visit to Luxembourg, Pope Francis underscored the nation’s vital role in advancing European unity and peace, while also criticising the rise of nationalism and wars.
In a press note on April 12, he said, “Pope Francis' official confirmation of the much-awaited visit to Timor-Leste fills the President of the Republic and all the people of Timor-Leste with joy.”
Pope noted that being a journalist is a vocation, something like that of a doctor, “who chooses to love humanity by caring for its illnesses” because they “choose to personally touch the wounds of society and the world”.
The Pope invited those present, "Let us pray together that these brothers and sisters of ours may move forward in the face of this tragedy, and let us ask Our Lady to protect them: Hail Mary, ..."
