Eight candidates of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Annecy (SJA) are undertaking a pastoral immersion across Catholic communities in Kandhamal, eastern India, to deepen their understanding of faith, community life and religious service among people who have experienced poverty, social challenges and persecution.
Addressing the annual meeting of the Conference of Religious India (CRI), Goa Unit, FABC President Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrão called on religious men and women to deepen their commitment to synodality by building a Christ-centered, relational, and collaborative Church rooted in a personal encounter with Jesus Christ.
Urging the Synod on Synodality, Sister Nirmala Alex Maria Nazareth, AC (Apostolic Carmel), president of Catholic women religious in India, emphasized that the poor, migrants, and refugees "must always be very close to the Church.”
