The ongoing 35th General Body Meeting of the Catholic Bishops Conference of India (CBCI) elected Archbishop Mar Andrews Thazhath, Metropolitan Archbishop of Thrissur, as the new president of the CBCI.
Archbishop George Antonysamy of Madras-Mylapore was elected first vice-president and Bishop Mar Joseph Thomas, of the Eparchy of Batheri (Malankara), the second vice-president of CBCI. Archbishop Felix Machado of Vasai was re-elected as the Secretary-General.
